On June 10, 2008 the Pistons named first year assistant coach and former players union representative Michael Curry as their new head coach for the 2008–09 season.On July 30, 2008, the Pistons signed guard Will Bynum and forward/center Kwame Brown. On November 3, 2008, the Pistons traded Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb to the Denver Nuggets for Allen Iverson. McDyess was later waived on November 10 and rejoined the Pistons on December 9, 2008.
