1.) Photoshop can import or export hundreds of file formats, including PSD, Al, PDF, NEF, CRW, and many more.
2.) Comprehensive image analysis with enhanced measurement and counting tools, as well as support for DICOM images and MATLAB processing routines.
3.) A key new feature in Photoshop CS4 is Content-Aware Scaling that lets you resize and recompose images simultaneously, allowing an image to be resized to different proportions while still preserving all the vital areas of the image. It works by analyzing the image in the background while you adjust its size, and intelligently recomposes the scene to preserve the most visually interesting areas. If required, you can also use selection tools to predefine the most important areas before you begin scaling, so that these are retained in the reconfigured image.
4.) With special features to enhance digital communication skills, such as smooth 3D editing and new measurement and image analysis tools, Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended software has everything in Photoshop CS4, plus more.

This is were I purchased it with a student discount and is much cheaper than paying regular price for it.
This is for the Web Premium Student Edition, but you can purchase just the Photoshop if you wish.
